Also known as river surfing (improper appellation), Montreal is a recognized location to practice this unique sport (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/River_surfing ). The stationary surf takes place on a stable wave, resulting in turbulence caused by the fast flowing river and the irregular rock bottom. This location is easily reached by photographers, and is located behind Habitat 67, in Montreal, along the Saint-Laurence River; it allows perfect angles to capture the action. During the nicer days of the summer, several groups of surfers are present and exercise their sport. Current is more dynamic early during the season when the river flow is at its maximum.
